Project overview
Velorian is a headless e-commerce storefront for high-value watches. It separates the customer experience from commerce operations so the brand can control presentation completely while keeping checkout secure.
The challenge
Standard templates did not do justice to the product, and pages full of high-resolution images loaded slowly. The storefront had to feel premium and load quickly on mobile networks.
The approach
Server-side rendering and image optimisation were treated as design constraints from the first layout. Motion was kept subtle and used only to guide attention through a product story.
The architecture
- Next.js with server-side rendering for performance and SEO
- Headless commerce architecture
- Node.js services with PostgreSQL and Redis
- Optimised responsive images
The product
Shoppers move through collections, detailed product pages and a secure checkout. The marketing team curates collections without developer involvement.
Key features
- Collection and product storytelling pages
- Responsive, optimised product imagery
- Secure checkout
- Content-managed collections
- Search-friendly server rendering
UX decisions
- Product pages lead with craftsmanship detail before specifications.
- Motion is limited to transitions that help the eye move through the page.

Deployment
Deployed on edge-cached infrastructure with server rendering for product and collection pages.
Outcome
